The apocalypse is here.

The Violent Femmes' alt-anthem "Blister in the Sun" is currently being used in radio commercials for Wendy's new fish sandwich.

What the F, man?

1) What does "going out like a blister in the sun" have to do with panko-crusted cod fillets from Wendy's?

2) Hello, sellout!

I read an article recently about an Wisconsin guy who was in a band in Iceland and who managed to get some press credentials for a VF show when they played there. Apparently one of the VF guys was a total jerk and completely denied that the band was from Wisconsin and said that they were from _New York_ and that anyone who said otherwise was lying. One of the other VF guys was awesome and really excited to hang out with someone else from Wisconsin. I'm guessing it was the first guy who sold out to Wendy's.

That said, panko does make a nice breading. I made chicken parmsean with panko once, and it was delicious.

Heh. I thought about blogging on this very topic - ya beat me to it, J.Vo. It's not just radio ads, and it's not just fish - it's in their TV ads for burgers, too. It took several times through the ad before it registered - I was like, wait, Blister in the Sun? Burger? Am I supposed to associate Wendy's meat with blisters? In the sun? Because, um, after the whole finger thing, that's really kind of gross.
